Bengali New Year or Poyela Boishakh (পহেলা বৈশাখ Pohela Boishakh or পয়লা বৈশাখ Poela Boishakh) is the first day of the Bengali calendar, famous in both Bangladesh and West Bengal, and in Bengali communities in Assam and Tripura. It coincides with the New Year's Days of many Southern Asian calendars.
Poila Boishakh attaches all ethnic Bengalis irrespective of religious and regional differences. In India, in West Bengal and Assam it is a public (state) holiday and is publicly celebrated in mid-April. In Bangladesh, it is a national holiday celebrated around 14 April according to the official edited calendar designed by the Bangla Academy.
In modern times Poyela Boishakh is celebrated all over the world. Day by day the popularity of Poyela Boishakh is enhancing. Now a days its can counts as a world traditional day. The day is celebrated different part of the world.
In Bangladesh Different socio-culture are organised in this day. The day first programme will begin at dawn at Ramna Batamul. A large number of wear traditional dress to attend different programme in this day.
